Today calls for a little recap of the last week. It's kind of random and I'm a little scatter-brained lately...thus the "tidbits" (I know, I'm terrible with the titles)I've been home with the kids and no hubby again this weekend. Last weekend I took the crazy little man and Lily to Florida. We drove, with my dad (that's a whole story within itself). We survived 24 hours to get there, 72 hours in sunny s. Florida and 30 grueling hours back. I'm a little crazy and impulsive if you didn't know that yet.
I finally got to cleaning my house up yesterday, and as i sit here blogging I'm glancing around realizing most of it has gone to naught...empty juice boxes , DVDs, shoes and what not lay scattered about on the floor. Dishes fill the sink again, and a lame attempt at making a dent in Mt. Washmore remains in the washer & dryer, surely smelling like wet dog...or whatever.
I have a good excuse this time. Silly Lily has been a little fussier than usual. She's been wanting to be snuggled and held more than normal this week. I'm not a mom that never lets her baby cry...i do...I give it a little time, but sometimes they need a little more love. And quite honestly, if I were stuck in a car seat for 30 hours, I'd want to be held too.
I went garage sale-ing this weekend. I picked up this cabinet. Pretty cool, huh? I got the cabinet, a desk, some children's "chapter" books for my 8 year old for $50. It's not the best picture, but it's made out of old red barn wood. I'm desperately in need of storage...and I love old stuff like this...so I was very pleased with my find.
My BIG find this week was a washer & dryer set on Craigslist for $140. See, before we got on this Dave Ramsey plan, we apparently committed a HUGE financial sin...we rented a washer & dryer. Adding up to more than $700 of Stupid Tax. Dumb, I know. I'm kickin' myself! At least we've stopped it dead in it's tracks. No more "stupid tax"--although I have to admit it's just one of many financial faux pas over the years. I could do a whole series on that alone!
My crazy little man is soooo funny, and he definitely keeps me on my toes. This weekend was no exception. because my home is always so clean & tidy, i was surprised (do you detect the sarcasm?) when my son found a little sticky spot on the floor and began stepping in it with his toes...I've learned to ignore some of the little things for the greater good (of my sanity)...anyway my adorable little redhead with his big chocolaty brown eyes looked up at me very serious like said..."Mommy, This. is a really sticky situation" I laughed a really good belly laugh, and it felt good...good to REALLY laugh. I needed that.
That's about it...
Have you had a good belly laugh lately?
